Polarlightcenter

In 2007 we, Rob and Therese, originally from Holland, fell in love with the beautiful Lofoten and started the Polarlightcenter. We would like to share our passion for the northern lights with you.

At the Polarlightcenter in Laukvik, on the most northern island of the Lofoten, named Austvågøy, we welcome our guests who would like to see the northern lights and who have come for a presentation.

We will show you colourful pictures and animations on a large screen and explain to you everything you wish to know about the northern lights.

In the lecture room we have the opportunity to observe the northern light activity on a special monitor. We often have to interrupt the lecture and go outside to view the auroras.

It is an unforgettable moment to view the auroras from the north and later from the east above the mountain to the west with the sound of the waves and the green colour of the northern lights reflecting in the sea.

If you like we can assist with taking pictures.

Sometimes we have to wait for the northern lights to come so while drinking coffee or tea, there
are many books to browse through.

Or you can have a look at the instrument room where you get an explanation of the different measurings.

If there is no northern light activity at all or when it is too cloudy, we can show you part of a nice DVD of the northern lights and is also available in our shop.

 

Price lecture:

NOK 400,-p.p. Starting from 20.00hrs duration about 3 hrs incl. (hopefully) viewing the northern lights and incl.SMS-alerts until midnight.

On request also daytime lectures are sometimes possible.
